High Tea, Havdallah and Movie,

Saturday, December 13, 2014 21 Kislev 5775

4:00 PM - 7:15 PMB'nai Havurah

Join us for High Tea, Movie and discussion while our younger members in kindergarten through grade 6 are enjoying pizza and movie (Dolphin Tale II).  When each group has completed their movie along with discussion, both groups (spanning a few generations!) will join together for Havdallah service  in the Sanctuary.  To register your child for Movie, Dinner and Havdallah, go here.

How do we appreciate the value individuals of differing abilities bring to our lives and to our community?  Have you wondered how we might best ensure these persons feel not only included, but a sense of belonging? And what benefits do we, as a community, receive when they do?  Please join us on December 13 to view the documentary," Praying with Lior."

"Praying with Lior" tells the extraordinary story of Lior, a charismatic boy with Down Syndrome, his life with his  family and the many people who pray with him. As Lior approaches his Bar Mitzah, different people in the film provide an honest window into the struggles and triumphs of real family life and the power of ritual and celebration. It is a remarkable, funny, engrossing and profound documentary that offers a new vision for how to think about difference and about what is possible with the resources offered by love, prayer and kinship.

After the film, we plan to have a robust conversation, facilitated by Liz Evans, about how the concepts presented in the documentary may apply to us, our work, and our beliefs.

Schedule:

We will begin at 4:00 with High Tea, followed by movie and discussion.  At 6:45 pm, we will join our young friends at Havdallah services, music with Hal, and the D'var Torah presented by our 1st and 2nd graders. Hal Aqua will lead Havdallah service.
