Interest Groups

Sustainable Living

.

Sustainability is an approach to decision-making that ensures the health and well-being of present and future generations and that loves the children of all the species with whom we share the planet. Our goal in organizing this interest group is to provide a place for interested congregants to learn about the choices each of us can make in our daily lives to address climate change and other environmental issues. The Green Team merged with us so we also take on projects to enable B'nai Havurah to operate in a more sustainable manner. We see this as an aspect of the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam that involves embracing change in all aspects of how we live on this planet.

Mah Jongg

Join us as we Crak, Bam and Dot and have a great time just being together!  If you have never played before, we will teach you and you will be playing like a pro in no time!  Everyone is welcome. Please feel free to bring snacks and beverages (B'nai has a dairy kitchen, so please don't bring meat).

Come to the Wednesday morning or Monday evening groups, or both!

Jewish Writing Between Tanakh and Talmud

Jewish Writing Between Tanakh and Talmud, a weekly drop-in study group led by Pat Madsen. Right now, we're reading Josephus' Roman-era retelling of Tanakh. Join us when you wish—we read the text aloud with questions and discussion as participants wish. No homework. No expectations before or after the day we're reading. Zoom almost every Thursday at 4:00. For more information, contact Pat, patsact@hotmail.com.

"Newcomers" (Migrants) Support

The B’nai community has really come together to support the unhoused Newcomers (migrants)  in Denver. As you may know, we had a very successful suitcase and warm clothing drive as well as creating over 150 shower packs for the unhoused Newcomers to use in public showers. We were all once the Newcomers and our spiritual tradition teaches “You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.”

If you feel inspired to create more projects that B’nai can support, perhaps in conjunction with other synagogues and churches, please email Wendy at  wendykberger@gmail.com  and we will plan a meeting to begin.
