Holiday Health Practices
Your health is important to us, and all of us want to be able to gather freely. To this end, here are some steps to best protect your health and the health of others:
- Symptoms – If you have any symptoms such as a cough or fever, please refrain from attending events in person. Feel free to join us on Zoom even if you have registered to come in person.
- Masking - We encourage wearing a mask at indoor events as an extra measure of safety and comfort for those that are vulnerable in our community. We respect everyone’s choices and all are welcome regardless of their decision. Masks will be available at all events.
- Vaccines - We hear that a new COVID booster as well as RSV and flu shots are available and we hope that you will discuss the options of vaccination with your physician.
Security Practices
Recent events and the tensions that are currently felt nationally and locally make this a time where fear, anxiety and other complex feelings and emotions are very real and present.
Both Federal and local law enforcement have offered guideline and protocol suggestions to Jewish Institutions, which we are following. Here is a small list of the security preparations:
- I am in touch with our Regional Safety & Security Initiative Director to hear if there is any credible threats in our city, region and country. This allows me to receive information directly from the FBI, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and our local law enforcement.
- Our local Denver Police Division will be increasing patrols centered around all of the Denver Jewish Institutions, including B’nai Havurah (East and West). They have been advised of our schedule and have my contact information.
- The security company that we have used this past year will be with us at B'nai East, B'nai West and the outdoor spaces we are using over the next few weeks.
- The Secure Community Network (SCN) has created a series of security webinars so that every person can be a part of the security solution. Here is a list of the online webinars that are offered.
You can also do your part to keep the B'nai community safe by:
- Registering for each service that you are coming to, whether in person or online. You can find registration for our High Holy Day services here.
- If you join us in person, we ask that you participate in the registration and name tag process as you enter B'nai West. If you are dropping children off at childcare, it is very important that you check in with Hannah as you come into the childcare room.
- These measures, along with our usual protocols of vigilance and reporting anything that looks out of place are best practices according to information given to us by the Secure Community Network. Make a habit of identifying the exits in each room you are in.
