Welcome to our 2024/5785 High Holy Days Season...

Join us for joyful High Holy Day services and programs!

Thank you for taking a few moments to complete a registration form for in person and virtual attendance at our High Holy Days. Given that we have a limited number of seats, we are instituting a policy of asking our members and friends (non-members) to register for the services they wish to attend (both in person and virtually). Our top priority is that everyone who wishes to join us in person may do so. We can assure you will have a seat only if you register.

PLEASE NOTE: Erev Rosh Hashanah , Rosh Hashanah (Day 1), Kol Nidre, and Yom Kippur services will be at:
Highlands Church, 1700 S. Grant Street, Denver 80210:  DIRECTIONS

Holiday Health Practices

Your health is important to us, and all of us want to be able to gather freely.  To this end, here are some steps to best protect your health and the health of others:

  • Symptoms – If you have any symptoms such as a cough or fever, please refrain from attending events in person. Feel free to join us on Zoom even if you have registered to come in person.
  • Masking - We encourage wearing a mask at indoor events as an extra measure of safety and comfort for those that are vulnerable in our community. We respect everyone’s choices and all are welcome regardless of their decision. Masks will be available at all events.
  • Testing - We encourage you to test ahead of in person gatherings, particularly if you know you have been exposed or are having symptoms. If you test positive, please refrain from attending in person.
  • Vaccines - We hear that a new COVID booster as well as RSV and flu shots are available and we hope that you will discuss the options of vaccination with your physician.
  • Air Flow - We will take steps to increase air flow and filtration whenever possible at our indoor gatherings.

Security Practices

The events of the past year and the tensions that are currently felt nationally and locally, make this a time where fear, anxiety and other complex feelings and emotions are very real and present.

Both Federal and local law enforcement have offered guideline and protocol suggestions to Jewish Institutions, which we are following.  Here is a small list of the security  preparations:

  • I am in touch with our Regional Safety & Security Initiative Director to hear if there is any credible threats in our city, region and country.  This allows me to receive information directly from the FBI, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and our local law enforcement.
  • Our local Denver Police Division will be increasing patrols centered around all of the Denver Jewish Institutions, including B’nai Havurah (East and West).  They have been advised of our schedule and have my contact information.
  • The security company that we have used this past year will be with us at B'nai East, B'nai West and the outdoor spaces we are using over the next few weeks. Michelle and Grey have learned many of our community's names and faces over the past year.
  • Our Security Team leader and Board Chair have walked B'nai West with a member of the Denver Police Deptartment to discuss the best practices to use in order to keep us safe.  You will notice extra police vehicles, armed and unarmed security at each gathering thorughout the month of October.
  • A few of your B'nai community members will be wearing special "Security Team" name badges.  These volunteers will be patroling the spaces and they will be extra sets of eyes and hands if needed.

You can also do your part to keep the B'nai community safe by:

  • Registering for each service that you are coming to, whether in person or online.  You can find registration for our High Holy Day services here.
  • If you join us in person, we ask that you participate in the registration and name tag process as you enter B'nai West.  If you are dropping children off at childcare, it is very important that you check in with Hannah or Yoni as you come into the childcare room.
  • These measures, along with our usual protocols of vigilance and reporting anything that looks out of place are best practices according to information given to us by the Secure Community Network.  Make a habit of identifying the exits in each room you are in.
