Magical Mitzvah Day!

Please join us on Sunday, May 18th from 10 am- 2 pm for a revival of the Magical Mitzvah Day, an all ages hands-on service day! This year's Magical Mitzvah Day will focus on supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in Colorado. We are collaborating with The Center on Colfax, and will be gathering donations and making kits for their various programs, along with providing kits to LGBTQIA+ people coming to Colorado through the Trans Continental Pipeline!

This day will include a whole lot of ways to connect, learn, and help others. Our day will begin at 10 am and will end at 2 pm, during which time everyone is welcome to stay or to come and go when it works for them. We will provide nosh throughout the day, along with rotating offerings.

We will be gathering items throughout the weeks before the event to assemble into welcome kits for the Trans Continental Pipeline. Please drop items off at B'nai Havurah East (6445 E Ohio Ave) during when our office is open: Tuesday - Friday 9 am - 2 pm. You can also bring items on the day of the Magical Mitzvah Day.

Here is a list of suggested donation items:

- Sealed snacks (fruit snacks, crackers, candy, dried fruit, nuts, breakfast bars, ramen, etc.)
- Small sunscreens
- Chapstick
- Stickers, Colorado
- Stickers, LGBTQ+ Affirming
- Liquid IV/hydration packs
- Notes of affirmation
- Handwipes or hand sanitizer
- Kleenex packs
- Gallon sized zip lock bags (or bags to stuff the items in)
- Anything else welcoming you may want to give! (markers, notecards, art, buttons, friendship bracelets, etc.)

 

Below is a list of some of what you may get to do/see on the day of!

- Making kits for the Trans Continental Pipeline

- A community art project that will be displayed at B'nai to show that we are a safe place for all!

- Card making (with support from card maven Alice Turak) for the various support groups offered by the Center on Colfax

- Storytelling corner with stories featured LGBQTIA+ characters and themes

- Button making fundraiser for the Center on Colfax

- Informational and educational resources for LGBTQIA+ people and allies provided by the Center

The Magical Mitzvah Day schedule is designed to have a "come when you can" schedule. The event will take place from 10 am - 2 pm and people are welcome to pop in and out when it works for them.

We will be gathering donations throughout the weeks leading up to the Magical Mitzvah Day and on the day of the event itself. Please let us know what you plan on bringing, or if you can not bring donation items.
