Description from hike planner Ruth Brown:
We will be hiking in South Valley Park, part of the Jefferson county Open Space parks. South Valley Park has dramatic red sandstone spires and stunning views of craggy outcroppings. This park is part of the geologic features that are in Red Rocks and Roxborough parks. Since it is a Jeffco open space park, dogs are allowed on the trails.
We will meet at the SOUTH Trailhead of the South Valley park. (12247 W Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO is given as the address, but this will not take you to the trailhead if you put it into the map) at 8:30am. We plan to hike the Coyote Song trail. This is an easy 2.9 mile trail. Although there is not much shade along the trail, you will get some cool valley views towards the end! Just be sure to bring sun protection and plenty of water.
