Debbie Goodman will facilitate a discussion about the week’s Torah portion, Pinchas (Numbers 25:10-30:1).  This parshah includes the unique story of the daughters of Zelophehad, who sought to inherit their father’s property.  Sons would usually be the ones to inherit, so this raises the question of what is to be done when only daughters remain?  The text gives us some detail about how unprecedented legal issues were addressed then, and set precedents for ongoing halachic questions.
