10:00 AM - 2:00 PMIn person at B'nai East and on ZoomIn the Beginning... Shabbat Bereshit:
A Shabbat of Prayer, Wonder, Connection, Lunch and Learning
Join us for the first shabbat services of our yearly Torah cycle, led by Rabbi Katie, Hal Aqua and Carla Sciaky followed by a light kiddush lunch and A Connection and Belonging Workshop: "To Schmooze or Not to Schmooze," led by Elizabeth Reder and sponsored by the Inclusivity Committee.
Our service will include space to offer prayers for the situation in Israel. We will also encounter the very juicy first portion of the Torah, Genesis Bereshit, and take a moment to go outside and view the solar eclipse together as we appreciate the wonders of Creation and the mysteries of light and darkness.
To Shmooze or Not to Shmooze: A Connection and Belonging Workshop
Presented by the Inclusivity Committee and Elizabeth Reder
In this session, we will discuss the benefits of social connection to physical and mental well-being, reflect on the value of our own social connections, examine how the pandemic has altered some of the ways we connect, and discuss how to reach out to those who may be isolated or alone.
This participatory workshop will give you tools to “Hit Your Mark” this New Year for your own social connection alongside connecting with and supporting others in the community. Please join us for this lively and meaningful workshop.
Elizabeth Reder has a Masters Degree in Communication and experience facilitating programs and teaching.
