We are in a dark time of year, and we’re in a dark time of civilization. This week’s Torah portion has Joseph in the dungeon, perhaps forgotten by anyone who ever knew him. He seems to be utterly powerless. How will he–and we–go forward from here?

 

Each Recon Lab service has a theme which is approached through the following:

• Exploration of liturgy, with a chance to try out some alternate forms

• The weekly Torah portion, with a thoughtful drash

• A discussion of more personal and/or political dimensions

• Rousing music led by Hal Aqua

 

As with all Shabbat morning services at B’nai Havurah, there will be a chance to recite Healing Prayer and Kaddish in community. Recon Lab comprises Pat Madsen, Debbie Goodman, Laurie Cohn, and Risa Aqua, with help from Rabbi Katie Mizrahi and Hal Aqua.
