B'nai Havurah East (6445 E. Ohio Ave)

 

Last month our B’nai Havurah community lost a much-beloved member – Rich Katz, who suffered an unexpected stroke and died on November 2. Rich is survived by his wife Heidi, children Aviva Katz Turner (Brett) and Alex, and grandchildren Emmett and Noa. The funeral was held on November 7 at Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston, Illinois, where Rich and Heidi were longtime members, and the burial was in Waukegan, Illinois. 

In the several years since Rich and Heidi joined B’nai Havurah, they quickly became active and engaged members of the community. You might have spoken to Rich, as he was graciously volunteering in our office one day each week, and he was integral in the planning of B’nai’s recent annual event dinner. His sudden passing left many of us in shock. Heidi and her family graciously agreed to hold a memorial service here at B’nai Havurah, to give our members an opportunity to share memories and express our condolences.

We’ll meet on Sunday, December 21, 11:00 am at B’nai East, 6445 East Ohio Avenue, Denver. The short service will be informal and warm, with some prayers and songs, an opportunity for the family to say Kaddish supported by the community, and a time for sharing stories and memories.
