A babka is a sweet braided bread or cake that originated in Poland and Ukraine's Jewish communities. It is popular in Israel and the Jewish diaspora. Although not a Hanukkah dish per se, chocolate babka is served by many families at Hanukkah and makes a most welcome gift.
