All of us have biases, no matter how aware and enlightened we think we are. The unconscious biases we have can affect the decisions that we make in our jobs, in our communities, and in our personal lives, including the relationships that we have with others. We will talk about strategies for recognizing and being able to interrupt these biases In ourselves, and when we see it exhibited in others. Silence cannot be an option.

B'nai Havurah member Karen Steinhauser, is a former 20-year veteran prosecutor, relief judge for Aurora Municipal Court, and implicit bias teacher/trainer/lecturer for lawyers and non-lawyers, government, and private businesses. She also represents juveniles and adults in traffic, DUI, domestic violence, sexual assault, and all other criminal offenses.

Karen was an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and National Association for Trial Advocacy for 30 years and has practiced civil litigation, family law and criminal defense at a number of private law firms. Named Colorado Super Lawyer 2012-2020. 5280 Top Lawyer 2017-20.
