B’nai Havurah is excited to welcome Rabbi Evette Lutman as our rabbi effective July 1, 2010. Rabbi Evette recently received her rabbinic ordination from for the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC) in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. She received a highly respected award for congregational work from the college at her graduation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio University, and a juris doctorate from the Ohio State College of Law.  After graduation from law schoo, Rabbi Evette represented battered women in various settings, eventually taking a position as Referee for the Washtenaw County Friend of the Court in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she served for ten years.

Rabbi Evette brings the excitement of our Jewish texts and the joy of prayer to our congregation  and all of our welcome visitors.  As many people experienced during her Shabbaton in April, Rabbi Evette’s beautiful voice will lead us in prayer.  Her Torah insights will lead us into deep spiritual dialogue.  Her pastoral care combines compassion, deep connection, honesty and humor. We welcome Rabbi Evette and her partner Shari Abramowitz to our community.
